Suburb

Quietest Suburbs in New Zealand

New Zealand's quietest suburbs, ranked by density. Fewer people, fewer parties, further to the nearest flat white. We're honest about the trade.

Quiet is mostly maths. Fewer people per square kilometre means fewer cars, fewer parties, fewer leaf blowers at 8am on a Saturday, and a much better relationship with your own driveway. So this list ranks on density, lowest first, and lets the silence speak for itself.

We'll be straight about the trade, because the brochures never are. The same data that finds you peace also shows the nearest decent flat white drifting steadily out of walking range, and at the top of this list the local shopping options narrow to a Four Square doing heroic work as supermarket, post shop and social hub combined. Nothing is happening in these suburbs. That is precisely their pitch.

If your idea of a big night is hearing a morepork, start here. If you'd rather have a wine bar within stumbling distance, the café culture list is two clicks away and considerably louder.
