🇳🇿 New Zealand’s #1 Suburb Guide
Find Your
Perfect Suburb
Schools and house prices if you’re moving in, places to stay and eat if you’re just passing through. The same data, every street, across all 5,812 New Zealand suburbs.
Best Suburbs Lists
Lists are where most property sites quietly lose the plot, ranking suburbs by whatever flatters the advertiser. Ours rank on the thing you actually asked about. Best for families means schools, parks and a low chance of excitement at 2am. First home buyers means somewhere you can afford without selling a kidney. Beaches mean sand you can reach before the children revolt. Every list draws on the same data as the rest of the site, sorted honestly, with the criteria spelled out so you can argue with it. Choose the life you are after, and we will point you at where it costs least.
Featured Suburbs
These are the suburbs worth a proper look right now, chosen because the data does something interesting, not because someone paid for the spot. Nobody pays for the spot. Each card carries a livability score out of 100, which folds schools, prices, safety, transport and the weather into a single number, so you can size up Mount Eden against Mosgiel without a spreadsheet and a headache. The score is a starting point, not a verdict, and we will happily show you the workings. Tap any one for the full picture, the flattering bits and the bits the brochure leaves out.

Most Searched Suburbs
This is where the country’s curiosity shows its hand. These are the suburbs New Zealanders look up most, and the mix says more than any trend piece. Devonport for the harbour daydream, Henderson because nearly forty thousand people live there and want the facts on their own patch, Papamoa because half of Auckland is apparently planning to leave. We do not curate this list or tidy it up. It is simply where the clicks go, updated as the searches roll in. Have a look at what everyone else is quietly investigating, well before they admit it at a dinner party.
Explore by Region
New Zealand is sixteen regions, sixty-seven districts and 5,812 localities, which is a lot of country for five million people to rattle around in. Start wide and work down. Auckland alone holds 807 suburbs, Southland a surprising 832, and the Chatham Islands a tidy six. Each region opens into its districts, each district into its suburbs, every one of them measured the same way so a fair comparison survives the trip from top to bottom. Whether you are weighing a move across town or across the country, this is the map without the marketing. Pick a corner and start poking around.

Got a suggestion, a question, or a piece of local knowledge you would like to share? We would rather hear it than not. There is more to a suburb than any data set can capture, and we count on the people who live in each one to fill in the rest. Pick a mood, choose a topic, say your piece. Leave an email if you want a reply, or skip it and lob the note over the fence and walk off. Either suits us.
