Best Suburbs in New Zealand
14 ranked lists, scored on the same public data as the rest of the site. No paid placements. Methodology on every page.
Lists are where most property sites quietly lose the plot. The format invites it: pick ten suburbs, arrange them in a flattering order, let the advertisers and the listings lead the dance, and publish the result as research. The words “hidden gem” usually feature. Nobody involved can quite explain the methodology, because the methodology is vibes and inventory.
Ours work differently, and the difference fits in one sentence: every list on this page ranks suburbs on the thing you actually asked about, using the same public data as the rest of the site, with the criteria explained in plain English so you can argue with it.

What no list here will ever do
No suburb pays for a spot. No suburb can pay for a spot; there’s no mechanism, no rate card, no quiet arrangement. The rankings recompute from the data on a schedule, and when a suburb climbs or falls it’s because the underlying numbers moved, not because someone’s marketing budget did. We’d also rather show a short honest list than pad one out, so where the data is thin, we say so instead of inventing a tenth entry to make the page look fuller.
How to actually use these
A ranking is a starting point with its reasoning attached, not a verdict. The sensible workflow runs: find a list that matches the life you're after, pull two or three contenders, run them through the comparison tool, read their full suburb pages including the unflattering bits, then go and stand in the actual street. The lists do the first cull of 6,398 options so you don't have to. The final call was always going to be yours.
Pick the life. We’ll point you at where it costs least, and show our workings the entire way down.
