Porirua City

Wellington · 27 suburbs · Council website ↗

Porirua wraps around its own harbour just north of Wellington, with one of the strongest Pasifika and Māori communities in the country giving the place real warmth and character. Pātaka tells the region’s stories through art, Titahi Bay does the seaside, and the newer suburbs at Whitby do the hill-and-bush thing.

It’s close enough to the capital to commute easily, with the train and motorway right there, but it’s very much its own city with its own identity rather than a Wellington offshoot. The mix of harbour, hills and a genuine community feel makes it a draw for families, and prices undercut the capital proper.

There are 44 suburbs and localities across the city. This page gathers them so you can compare without guessing: who lives where, what you’ll pay, how the schools rate, and which streets sit closest to the harbour or the train.

Harbour, community and an easy run to town. Have a browse and see where you’d settle.
