Waimakariri District

Waimakariri is the other side of Christchurch’s overflow, just north across the braided river that gives the district its name. Rangiora and Kaiapoi have grown fast, picking up families who wanted the section and the small-town feel but still needed the city within reach.

It’s a tidy mix of established towns and new growth, with the plains rolling out one way and the coast not far the other. Close enough to commute, far enough to feel like its own place rather than a suburb of somewhere else.
