The Pt Chev shops on Pt Chevalier Road are the village strip: cafés, the local Countdown, a few good restaurants, the pharmacy, the bookshop. The Saturday morning rhythm involves a lot of strollers and large dogs. Pt Chev Beach at the northern end is sandy at high tide and mudflat at low, which doesn't deter the locals - it's a swimming beach when the tide cooperates and a kid-watching beach the rest of the time.
